We found our passion for the entertainment in secondary school, providing support for school productions and learning as we went. Later we would go on to pursue it as a career and gain knowledge and expertise from all corners of the industry.
Seeing that spark in young people today is what drives us to share that passion and knowledge with future technicians.
We provide industry-aligned technical workshops designed to support the practical requirements of GCSE Drama and BTECH Production Arts training in school for KS3-4 students of all experience and abilities.
Lighting and sound equipment can be daunting to operate, and without a good knowledge of what all the buttons and dials do you won't always be able to get the most out of them.
We can work with staff as well as students to expand the understanding of technical theatre equipment, and help your productions look and sound as great as the performances themselves.
Staff can then take these skills with them to support new students and school productions and theatre education.
We offer a full package of lighting, sound, AV and stage management services specifically tailored for school productions, events, examinations and award ceremonies.
This can be in support of staff and students operating in technical areas, or standalone operating independantly, allowing you to concentrate on the event.
Health and Safety is a huge part of every institution, but the intricacies of performance spaces and production equipment often escape more generic surveys.
We can provide Risk Assessments, fire safety audits, PAT testing amongst others.
We can also manage more specialised testing such as Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), necessary for any lighting, sound or projection equipment that is suspended at height. PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations) may also apply.
Where possible, we like to provide training in the school performance space so that training is relevant to your students, and they can continue learning on future school productions.
Alternatively, we can provide training at the Geoffrey Whitworth Theatre in Crayford, Kent. This small but incredibly well equipped venue is a registered charity and is run completely by volunteers, yet they produce ambitious and technically competent shows.
We work with the theatre to provide onsite training in all areas of technical theatre, using their professional equipment and facilities to give students hands-on experiece they won't get anywhere else.
The Association of British Theatre Technicians has a long history of training and education.
We are proud members of the ABTT and a member of their School Theatre Support Committee.
All of our staff are DBS checked. Certificates can be provided prior to any appointments to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and staff.
